Every Color of the Sea is Cold

Ari Jónsson, a successful lawyer, is unexpectedly appointed defense council in what looks like an open-and-shut murder case. The victim is an elderly art collector who had been brutally assaulted in his home and left for dead. The suspect, Jói, is a homeless drug addict with a long trail of convictions. Ari is surprised to discover that his client has a sister, Milla, who comes to Iceland from Copenhagen, where she lives, to rally to her brother’s side. Milla is convinced he’s innocent. She discovers that the victim’s business partner had left the country just a few hours after the attack, and with Ari’s help, sets about unraveling their shady past. Ari’s admiration of the strong-minded young woman gives way to growing doubts about what’s actually motivating her quest. Eventually he is left to grapple with the mystery of who Milla really is and the true nature of her connection to the murdered man.
