Sesselja
He, a well-known and widely-travelled artist, has always dominated the marriage. She appears to accept the status quo which in turn results in his always taking the upper hand. Then, when she disappears from their holiday cottage on the rocky coast of Iceland, the idea occurs to him that she may have left him, or even committed suicide. This thought causes him to reconsider his assumptions. His wife's sister comes to see the artist fallowing the disappearance. She bears a striking resemblance to her sister. The reckoning is made with the sister, but the story becomes even more complicated. In his desperation and sleepless state, the artist is visited by fantastic visions, which appear under a folk-tale aspect.
