Message to Sandra, A

Message to Sandra tells the story of Jónas, a middle-aged writer who gets the chance of a lifetime - a contract with an Italian film company to write a script based on the life of Snorri Sturluson, the most famous of Iceland's medieval saga writers.

This is a task that can prove to the world not only that Iceland's cultural heritage is alive and well but also that Jónas the writer is too. Jónas, working in peace and quiet in an isolated summerhouse, hires a young girl, Sandra, to cook for and look after him, and complete an ideal situation for an Icelandic writer on the brink of an international breakthrough. The plan, however, does not turn out the way Jónas intended. His mind is relentlessly disturbed by internal as well as external events. Maybe the situation wasn't ideal. Maybe Jónas the man and the writer just wasn't good enough. In the end, however, Jónas carries Iceland's cultural heritage abroad, but not in the way he intended.
